CoverGirl Magazine Ad (Spec)

The Client— CoverGirl is an American cosmetics brand.

Their tone is fun, stylish, and promotional.

The Challenge— CoverGirl wanted a magazine ad to drive purchases of their newest product, the TrueYou Match lipstick.

The Audience— Make-up lovers aged 24-40 who regularly purchase health and beauty items from their local drugstores. They want to feel confident and look their best by using makeup to bring out their natural beauty.

The Solution— Since CoverGirl relies heavily on visuals to sell their products, I focused on copy that concisely highlights the main benefit and product features.

Inspired by the functionality and name of the new product, I centered my copy around the idea of being “true to yourself” with makeup that enhances your unique attributes and natural beauty.

I featured the key message both at the beginning and the end of the ad so even skimmers will understand the benefit of the new product.

Because this is a magazine ad, I chose a soft Call to Action directing the viewer to find the product in stores.
